Free website chatbot or an AI chatbot that books jobs?

A free website chatbot answers questions from your pages, and suits a business with a few chats a week. LeadGenie is an AI chatbot for website enquiries that also asks your questions, takes a name and books the job, and we set it up for you. Starter is A$199 a month plus A$999 set-up, ex GST.

  • Replies in up to 3 seconds, day or night
  • Web chat, Facebook, Instagram and email

The problem

The answer was right. The enquiry still left.

It’s 9:14pm. Someone asks the chatbot on your website for a price. It answers in two seconds, from your own price list, and it’s right. Then it asks “Anything else?”, they say no thanks, and they leave to get two more quotes. Many chatbot tools count that as a resolved chat. You have no name, no email and no booking.

Example

One chat, two endings.

Example business: Harbourline Cleaning, on Starter. The answer is already on the website, where a chatbot is strongest.

9:14 pm
Visitor
“Hi, do you do end of lease cleans in Westmead? How much for a two bedroom unit?”
A website chatbot, here
9:14 pm
AI assistant
“Yes, Westmead is in our area. A two-bedroom end-of-lease clean starts at A$380, carpets extra. I’m Harbourline’s AI assistant. When is your final inspection? That decides which day we can do it.”
A website chatbot, here
9:16 pm
Visitor
“Inspection's Friday at 10. Keys go back Thursday afternoon. Is Thursday doable? There's carpet in the second bedroom too.”
A website chatbot, here
9:17 pm
AI assistant
“Thursday works, with a 1pm start before the keys go back. With the second bedroom’s carpet it’s A$440 all up. Can I take your name and email to hold Thursday at 1?”
A website chatbot, here
9:19 pm
Visitor
“Priya, [email protected]. Yes please, hold Thursday.”
Where each one ends
Result
Same answer, same A$380. One stopped at the answer. One took the booking.

Example only: Harbourline is an invented business, and A$380 and A$440 are example rates, not LeadGenie prices.

Job by job

Eight jobs. A chatbot wins four.

Job 01

Being on your website tonight

A chatbot can be live this afternoon. We take 7 to 10 business days, because we write and test it first.

A website chatbot wins this
“Your assistant is live. Paste this snippet before the closing body tag.”
LeadGenie
“Onboarding call Monday, then seven to ten business days of building and testing before it answers a real customer.”
Job 02

Asking what your website doesn’t say

The questions that turn a chat into a job, like the inspection date, aren’t on your website. We write them in.

A website chatbot
“A two-bedroom end-of-lease clean starts at A$380. Is there anything else I can help you with?”
LeadGenie wins this
“It starts at A$380. When is your final inspection? That decides which day we can do it.”
Job 03

Answering existing customers at volume

If most chats are existing customers asking about orders or opening hours, a support chatbot is the right buy.

A website chatbot wins this
“Your order shipped yesterday and should arrive Thursday. Here's the tracking link.”
LeadGenie
“Answers it from your pages, but it was set up to book new work, not to run your customer service.”
Job 04

Getting a name before they go

Ours asks for a name and email when it helps, to hold a time or send a quote.

A website chatbot
“Glad I could help! Have a great night.”
LeadGenie wins this
“Can I take your name and email so I can hold Thursday at 1 and send you the confirmation?”
Job 05

Changing a line at 11pm

With a chatbot you change it yourself, straight away. With us you ask, and we change it at no charge.

A website chatbot wins this
“Changes saved. Your assistant is using the new price list now.”
LeadGenie
“Thanks, we’ll update the carpet price and confirm by email once it’s live.”
Job 06

Booking the job in the chat

Many chatbots can book if you build that step. Ours books into your calendar as part of the set-up.

A website chatbot
“Would you like to leave your details? Someone will be in touch to arrange a time.”
LeadGenie wins this
“Thursday works, with a 1pm start before the keys go back. A$440 all up. Shall I hold it?”
Job 07

The monthly bill

A typical chatbot is about A$120 a month with no set-up fee: about A$1,900 cheaper than Starter in year one.

A website chatbot wins this
“Free to start. About A$120 a month with the AI on and our logo off. No set-up fee.”
LeadGenie
“A$199 a month, month to month, plus a one-time A$999 set-up charged on signing.”
Job 08

The ones who went quiet

Many enquiries go quiet after the price. A chatbot waits. Ours follows up by email.

A website chatbot
“Waits for the next visitor to open the chat.”
LeadGenie wins this
“Hi Priya, you asked about a two-bedroom clean in Westmead on Tuesday. Thursday at 1 is still free if you’d like it held.”
Four each
So the question isn’t which one is smarter. It’s whether you’re short of answers, or of enquiries you can call back.
Chatbot costs

The chatbot is cheaper. Here’s how much.

Taken from the tools’ own published pricing, converted from US dollars.

Free

The free plan

Most tools have one: around fifty conversations a month, a few AI replies and their name in your chat box.

Where most people land

The small-business plan

About A$40 a month (US$29) for live chat with a hundred or so conversations. The AI is often limited or extra.

Sold separately

The AI that answers

From about A$54 a month (US$39) for fifty AI conversations; unused ones expire. Website-trained tools run from about A$56 (US$40) for five hundred message credits to about A$209 (US$150) for four thousand.

Small, but monthly

Taking their logo off

“Powered by” branding stays unless you pay: about A$28 a month (US$20), up to about A$138 (US$99) on some.

Per chat

Priced in US dollars

Most bill in US dollars, so the cost rises when the dollar falls. Figures use the exchange rate of 11 September 2026.

The structural one

Paying for the ones who left

Larger support platforms charge about A$1.38 (US$0.99) per resolution, and a visitor who leaves counts as resolved.

The invisible one

The hours it takes you

Choosing a tool, writing the answers, building the booking step, testing it, then reading the chats every week. Call it a weekend to start and an hour or two a month after. It’s nowhere on the invoice.

Not a cost: a limit

What this page won't claim

None of this says chatbots are clumsy. The good ones answer a factual question as well as ours does. We’re comparing what each is built to finish, not how clever it is.

Where these figures come from: the published pricing pages of widely used chat and chatbot tools as at September 2026, in US dollars, converted at A$1.3951 to the US dollar and rounded. We haven’t named the tools because their plans change often, so check current prices before you decide. Card fees, GST and your own hours are left out, which understates the chatbot’s column. What our side costs, in full →

Year one

One year of website chat, costed both ways.

The chatbot is priced as a typical small business would set it up: live chat, the AI on, the logo off. Ours is our published price. The chatbot is the cheaper column.

About A$1,900
more in year one, and about A$1,500 a year after

A worked example, not a claim. A busier website will outgrow fifty AI conversations, but even the four-thousand-credit plan, about A$209 a month, is about A$2,510 a year: still under our first year. No dollar value is put on a booked job or your hours. Work out what missed enquiries cost you →

When a chatbot is the better pick

Who should choose a free chatbot

A chatbot is the right pick in these cases.

Choose a chatbot if

Answers are what you're short of

Free to about A$120 · No set-up fee · Live tonight
A few chats a week. A free plan covers it.
Most chats are from existing customers asking what your website already says. A support chatbot is built for that.
You like building things and will keep it up to date yourself.
You need it on your site this week. A chatbot can be live today; we take 7 to 10 business days.
You want to change every line yourself, at any hour.
Nothing about your work has a diary. If a good enquiry doesn’t end in a booking, our edge doesn’t apply.
Choose LeadGenie if

An answer without a name is a lead lost politely

A$199 a month · A$999 set-up · 7 to 10 business days
The work is bookable. A quote, an inspection, a clean or a site visit: if a good enquiry ends in a time, the answer is only the first half.
Your chat transcripts have no names in them. Read last month’s and count how many you could reply to; that number is the argument.
The questions that matter aren’t on your website, like dates, access and who decides, and a tool trained on your pages won’t ask them.
People go quiet after the price, and nobody chases them because nobody has the time.
Enquiries arrive on Facebook, Instagram and email as well, and you want one assistant answering all of them the same way.
You would rather not be the builder. You have a business to run and do not want a second job maintaining a chat box.

AI chatbot questions

What owners ask before they choose.

In a way, yes: an AI assistant in a chat box. The difference is that it’s set up to ask your questions, take a name and book the job, on Facebook, Instagram and email too. And we keep it current. What the Starter assistant does →

It writes in your words, from answers you approve, and always tells people it’s an AI assistant. Anyone who asks for a person is passed to you by email.

Not on day one. Count how many of last month’s chats ended with a name you could reply to. If most did, keep it. If not, we can start on Facebook, Instagram and email first, then compare.

It answers only from what you’ve approved. If it isn’t sure, it takes their details and passes the chat to you. We change its answers when you ask, at no extra charge.

No. Month to month, no lock-in, no exit fee, 30 days’ notice to cancel. Prices are locked in for your first 12 months. The A$999 set-up fee isn’t refundable, except where the law requires it or for a billing error.
